The Moment of Truth

Gotten back my results. Guess I did okay, not too good nor really too bad. But the results aren’t something I should really be proud of or whatsoever. Glad I didn’t fail any of my subjects, did poorly on papers which I felt was surprisingly easy, did averagely on paper I felt was normal, managing a pass for papers which I felt hard. Here the subjects and their respective grades: Continue reading

It is Finally Over

What is done is done. There is no use crying over spilt milk but sometimes you just have to. Perhaps you wouldn’t cry then since it doesn’t do much but later on when you’re hungry and the thoughts of the milk being able to satisfy your hunger would make you cry. Similarly, the examinations that I just took were like the spilt milk. There is no use crying over how badly I think I’ve done, but just to accept the fact that I failed to plan and thus plan to fail. I wouldn’t of course start crying now for the grades aren’t back yet. For now, I’ll just be happy and go lucky till the day when the report cards are returned to us. Then, I would be crying thinking of how I could’ve done much better.

Save 40 Cents to Spend 40 Dollars

Students in my school are generally financially sound. Well, we have a few rich kids in here but I suppose almost everyone comes from an average family in terms of monetary value. The weird thing I’ve noticed is, that some (minority) just have the habit of “forgetting” to pay their bus fares. You see, for students we have that privilege of paying $0.44 per ride no matter the distance (student concession I think). I’ve no idea how and why do some people still not want to pay that amount of money. Come on, compare that with your Crumpler bag and perhaps Nike shoes, what is $0.44? Irony at its greatest. 3 Fans – Cooler and Cooler

Spent the morning fixing up 3 new fans into my rig. One was a kaze-maru 140mm fan, and the two others were red LED coolermaster fans. Fixed them up into my casing (Coolermaster 690) and that alone took me around 2 hours or so. Get Computer Repair has a Microsoft Certified Professional working there so I generally go to them for my computer problems but I am glad that I spent that amount of time doing it myself. Now I understood much more about my computer and how to fix one. Actually, after taking a look at the different wirings and where they went etc, I found out that it ain’t very difficult to build one yourself. I’ve so far fixed a graphics card myself and setup additional fans. Little by little I’m getting more and more used with this custom computer building thing.

The Virgin Gold Finally?

Gold Medal - Will I get it?
Will this be the year?

All stations are completed. I am glad that for once I had a chance of getting a Gold in my National Physical Fitness Award (NAPFA). However, it is not a 100% yes for the Gold for I had one station whereby I only achieved a “D”. According to the scheme, to get a Gold you must have at least 21/30 points and all stations at least a “C” and above. Exactly which station did I get only a “D”? If you’ve followed my journey in the physical and fitness adventure, it was my Sit-and-Reach. I missed the “C” grade by just merely 2cm. Might be retaking it if my teacher allows it or like he said, if I had gotten the rest of the tests a Gold standard, he would just close an eye and give me that extra 2cm. Bah, I really hope he does or I’ll just keep trying in the next week until I can get that 2 more cm.

If that’s the case, I’ll finally acquire my first virgin Gold. Yes, all my life since primary school I did not have a chance of getting a Gold at all. In fact, I’ve always been getting Bronze then. Slowly promoting to Silver as my age progresses. Perhaps this year would be the year to mark my adventures into the Gold category for the fitness test. Anyways here are the results for the different stations and tests:

Sit-and-Reach D
Pull-ups A
Sit-ups A
Standing Board Jump C
Shutter Run A
2.4km Run/Walk C
Total Points: 23/30

The Story of the New Graphics Cards

If you’ve followed my stories, you’ve known that I’ve recently purchased a whole new computer except for the graphics card. This in other words meant that I bought a nice shirt, a nice pants, a nice pair of shoes, funky socks and an awesome pair of sunglasses. However, my undergarment is 3 years old it is starting to itch. I’ve not gotten a graphics card due to the thinking that its price would drop (definitely would) and that I would get a good price for a good card in the near future. It wasn’t too much into the future (Good Friday 10/4/09) that I’ve purchased a graphics card due to some kind of promotion/offer.  Also on that day (Good Friday), my cousin’s uncle told me that he had a spare card for it couldn’t work on his Starhub free computer. That itself acts as an catalyse for the purchase of a new card. Continue reading

Run and Stretch

Track And FieldRecently completed part of my National Physical Fitness Award (NAPFA). The stations completed were the 2.4km run and the sit and reach. For some background information about my personal physical strength: I ain’t extremely fit, lack stamina and weak in the arms. Terrible at stretching for god knows what reason. Since primary school till date, the best I’ve ever gotten was silver. Never in my life had I gotten a gold. My brother and sister both had gold for years and years continuously except for me. Come on I am average in terms of physical conditions but it just seemed as though I wasn’t fated for gold. Of course, I’ll be aiming for gold by the end of my IB education (year 6). Continue reading
